BMFI: What is it?

The BUSINESS MEN’S FELLOWSHIP INDIA is a marketplace ministry for Christians in any business or profession. The BMF Ministry is full-gospel in nature; in-line with the God given vision to its founder Late Demos Shakarian, an American businessman.

BMFI: Who are we?

Business Men's Fellowship India is striving to bring the Gospel of Good News and Hope to the marketplace in a secular and non-religious format --- a dentist to a dentist and a plumber to a plumber.

BMFI: What do we do?

The leaders invite people with whom they interact or deal with in the marketplace, to the fellowship meeting and witness to them the love, the compassion and the reality of Jesus Christ.

"The Mandate from God is we break the chains of bondage in the world. Our mandate is to destroy the isolation of loneliness, and link the world to God! -- Founder, Demos Shakarian.
In 1953, after receiving a God-given vision, Demos Shakarian started FGBMFI as one small chapter of businessmen meeting every week

In the early 1900's... led by God, the Shakarian family escaped the Holocaust in Armenia and made their home in Downey, California where they started a 20-Acre dairy with three cows. Faith in God, good judgment and hard work eventually multiplied that first little herd one-thousand fold, until in 1943 the Shakarian herd had reached three thousand, the largest private dairy in the United States at that time. Their story is found in the book, “The Happiest People on Earth,” read by millions of people and translated into 25 languages.

In the early 1950s Demos Shakarian formulated a plan that would bring together businessmen for meals designed for evangelism, discipleship, and exploring the miraculous gifts of the Spirit. Demos Shakarian presented the idea to Oral Roberts at his 1951 Los Angeles Crusade and Roberts spoke at Demos Shakarian’s first meeting. The new FGBMFI struggled for over a year and was nearly shut down until a breakout meeting occurred, Demos Shakarian claimed, after he received a vision about the fledgling organization’s future worldwide impact. Over the next several years the organization would grow as part and parcel of the 1950s Pentecostal healing revival.

By 1961 FGBMFI had over 300 chapters and almost 100,000 members. The decade of the 1960s were, if anything, an even more remarkable period for the organization. Buoyed by the spread of the charismatic movement FGBMFI attracted tens of thousands of supporters from mainline Protestant and Roman Catholic backgrounds. By the late 1970s Demos Shakarian presided over 1,700 FGBMFI chapters in sixty six countries, a periodical (Voice) that printed 500,000 copies per month, and a television program which Demos Shakarian hosted (“Good News”) that was broadcast on more than 300 stations in the U.S.

Vision

“The Vision” as told by Demos Shakarian (1952) “My son, I knew you before you were born. I have guided you every step of the way. Now I am going to show you the purpose of your life.”

Mission

The earth was turning – or I was moving around it – a second time. Below me again were millions upon millions of men. But what a difference! This time heads were raised. Eyes shone with joy. Hands were lifted towards heaven.

Implementation
